A little about Shara
Shara Gillahan has been creating headwear for over 5 years and gained her millinery qualification at Kangan Batman Institute while studying under some of Australia's and the world’s most well known milliners.
Shara's love for millinery started when she returned from an overseas holiday. She was unable to find a headpiece to suit her outfit that she bought while overseas, so after some research and a short course she was hooked and wanted to help others find the perfect headwear for their special day.
Shara uses materials such as, straw, sinamay, felt, jinsin, feathers and silks. Each headpiece base is blocked by hand over hat blocks that she received from her Great Grandmother and hand tools that belonged to her Grandfather. Flowers are cut, stiffened and tooled by hand with the help of her assistant (her Mum). By using all of these methods, Shara is able to keep her headwear individual for
all of her clients.
